Rebirth of Rowca

Fashionable garments for girls and ladies. ROWCA is not a new one (see an earlier post). But it's old and traditional. I remember, my grand mother had the rowca. Made of white cotton, like a blouse, front half open, bottom half with long flaps. No bra or bodice inside, only the Rowca. The front flaps tied below the boob level, gives good support. The transparency of the white cloth reveals partly.

And the new generation blouse !  It's the rebirth of Rowca ?

Rowca

Rowca ? Not many would have heard !  The picture below (of a most modern style)  is not exactly a Rowca, but a far resemblance prompted me to show you.

Rowca is a blouse like top garment, used by elderly women until almost the end of seventies (or early 80s).  It had two flaps to the front, upper edge stiched, and the lower end is pulled and tied below the boobs (see above.. the same way) .  This is a very old type uthareeyam of the malayali women. But, now it's almost extinct.
I request readers to contribute more on ROWCA.
